The unit is intended to enable the learner to understand how electrical and electronics principles are used in solving engineering problems. The electrical and electronic principles within the learning outcomes of this unit are intended to be relevant to the content of the units and should be taught alongside wherever possible.

This Basic SEND Training Course provides an introduction to understanding and supporting learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in educational settings. Aimed at all staff at Alliance Learning, this course builds foundational knowledge and practical strategies to foster inclusive learning environments.

Key Topics Covered:

  1. Understanding SEND

    • Definitions of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

    • Overview of common types of SEND (e.g., autism, ADHD, dyslexia, speech and language difficulties, sensory impairments).

  2. Legislation and Guidance

    • Key legal frameworks including the SEND Code of Practice (2015).

    • Roles and responsibilities of staff and the importance of early identification.

  3. The Graduated Approach

    • Explanation of the Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycle.

  4. Creating Inclusive Spaces

    • Differentiation strategies and use of reasonable adjustments.

    • Promoting accessibility.
